SP. Balasubramaniam was introduced by S.P.Kodandapani, music director through a movie “SRI SRI SRI MARYADA RAMANNA” in 1966, Produced by Padmanabham comedian of those days. Even after introducing him Kodandapani use to take him to other music directors to recommend him to give chance in their movies. Once he requested the recordist, Swamy Nathan, to keep the tracks which he sang and try to make the other music directors listen the same, that may get some chances for him. When Balu was at the peaks of his career, Kodandapani called him for a call sheet to record a song, but Balu was busy that day, even after multiple follow-ups Balu couldn’t adjust the dates and Balu was worried that Kodandapani would feel bad with his behavior and would scream at him over the call but to Balu’s surprise, he laughed at him in joy and replied, “I always wanted you to be so busy that you couldn’t give dates to me and this is a proud moment for me as your guru”. Kodandapani Garu felt it as a “GURU DAKSHINA” instead of an insult to him. That is why they were noble soles.
