RUDRAVEENA movie released on 4 March 1988 directed by K. Balanchader, the film received critical acclaim. However it was a commercial failure, Chiranjeevi stated that he opted to act in Rudraveena for an image makeover. He added that despite its failure, that film made him happy as it had inspired many villages in Andhra Pradesh. This happened during peak years of Chiranjeevi’s career, but he had taken a bold step to act Suryam character in Rudraveena. Nagendra Babu considered Rudraveena a spiritually awakening film personally and felt that a book could be written about it. The film bagged three National Film Awards, four Nandi Awards. The film was nominated to Tashkent Film Festival also. Filmmaker Bapu designed the logo of the production house and the film’s title.
