Doctor Kasturi Babu Mohan Rao is popularly known as BABU MOHAN a comedy actor of Telugu Film industry. He is born on 19th March 1952 a place called Beerolu of Khammam District of Telangana State. A versatile actor with his figure and innocent looks. He acted with almost all the heroes in Telugu film Industry.
Babu Mohan acted as an Astrologer by the name POOMPUHAR DIWAGNA SASTRY in the movie AA OKKATI ADAKKU directed by E.V.V.Satyanarayana in 1992. A blockbuster hilarious satire on superstitions. Atukula Chitti Babu( Rajendra Prasad) a well educated lazy guy who was influenced by his prediction that, Chitti Babu will be a king after one year. Having believed in his prediction Chitti Babu leads his life ideal, by ignoring his responsibilities and waiting for one year to finish. Rambha daughter of Royyala Naidu(Rao Gopal Rao) falls in love with Chitti Babu but he rejects her, later starts loving her. Royyala Naidu knowing the truth behind his laziness sets up a plot by warning Diwagna Sastry and releases a press note about her daughter’s swayamwaram, with this act move takes a new turn.
Diwagna Sastry’s character may be small but it influences the total story of the movie. The makeover and diction of Babu Mohan were typical and hilarious. He speaks to god by calling” EKO EKO” with a peculiar expression and voice. Babu Mohan’s Character is an eye opener to the people who blindly believe astrology than working hard for success. Astrologers are plenty rather than scientists in India, by the grace of God fearing people. Movies of this kind would help in bringing awareness about this kind of superstitious beliefs.
Babu Mohan Debuted in the film called Ee Prasnaku Baduledi. Initially, he was encouraged by director Kodi Ramakrishna, later director S.V. Krishna Reddy.
