After the screen test conducted by L.V.Prasad, NTR was selected for a lead role in Palleturi Pilla in B.A Subba Rao’s direction. In the mean, he was given an opportunity to act in a guest role as a police inspector, in Mana Desam movie. His role was to disrupt a meeting as they do not have the permission, he warns them to stop the meeting, but the reluctant mob will not listen to him. He then initiates lathi charge to disperse the mob, NTR got so involved in the scene that he started beating extras and spectators in real. People complained against NTR to L.V.Prasad and he warned NTR to be in control, but B.A. Subba Rao appreciated him for his involvement in the role.
