ADUSUMILLI JANARDHAN VARA PRASAD, he made his film title as his surname, known as AHUTI PRASAD, born on 2 January 1958 at Koduru, Krishna District and died on 4 January 2015 at Hyderabad. He was renowned for the wide variety of roles he played, including father-figure, comedian, and antagonist. Prasad appeared in over 150 films in his career spanning nearly three decades.
CHANDAMAMA movie directed by Krishna Vamsi, in which Prasad played an alcoholic and jolly go good Landlord role, Ramalingeswara Rao, Which has got him popularity among the audience. He spent all his time drinking and playing cards. Prasad was praised for mastery of Telugu accent specific to the East and West Godavari District, a trait he demonstrated in this movie since the backdrop of the movie is related to the same. He sets up the marriage of his son with the daughter of Ranga Rao (Nagendra Babu ) another landlord of the same village having a good reputation. Ramalingeswara Rao maintains typical dress code of similar color lungi and jubba and powder stuffed on the neck. At an instance he warns Navadeep who comes as a physiotherapist for his looks towards Mahalakshmi at the time of boozing with him, he reveals about the affair he is having with Mahalakshmi. But fortunately, Ramalingeswara Rao having the habit of forgetting the things he discusses while he is drunk. This was one of the funniest scenes in the movie, it has been well designed between Siva Balaji, Navadeep, and Ahuti Prasad. A lot of melodrama takes place before the climax but it eventually leads to a happy ending. Both Prasad and Nagendra Babu performed to the peaks at the time of marriage scene gained critical acclaims and audiences accolades.
Prasad’s career started with the film Vikram directed by V.Madhusudhana Rao which was Nagarjuna’s debut film. Prasad also worked as an assistant director to V.Madhusudhana Rao for the film Malle Moggalu.
Producer Shyam Prasad Reddy saw him on the sets of the film Ee Prashnaku Baduledi where he was working and offered him a role as the antagonist in his film Ahuti. Because of the big break, the film gave him, he came to be popularly known as Ahuti Prasad.
Krishna Vamsi’s Ninne Pelladatha was key in pushing his career as a character artist, and his success in the film ended up flooding him with offers.
In 2003 he won the National Award for the Best Villain for the film Nenu Ninnu Premistunnanu. In 2008, he won a Nandi Award for best character actor for the film Chandamama in which he played an alcoholic landlord.
