TELUGU SWAG RATING:
Top Reviewers:
TELUGU 360 (Rating: 2/5):
Though Kanguva has visual grandeur with grand technical aspects, the film lacks the needed emotional connect and an impressive narration. Kanguva fails to live up to the expectations.
Great Andhra (Rating: 2.75/5):
Overall, Kanguva has great visuals, a stellar act by Suriya, and some decent emotions. But the pacing is slow, lengthy and the climax is forced. If you go in with low expectations, Kanguva has some moments of glory to be given a shot on the big screen.
Mirchi9 (Rating: 2/5):
In short, Director Siva fails to develop the character of Kanguva, which is the lifeline of the film, and the entire movie is loud, like a typical cringe-worthy mass film. The visuals are good, but there’s no character development or emotion to create an impactful action high. In the end, it’s a misfire.
123TELUGU (Rating: 2.75/5):
Kanguva is a period action and emotional drama that features some impressive action sequences and emotional scenes. Especially Suriya’s power-packed performance, the surprising elements in the climax, and top-notch technical standards by the team make Kanguva a high-quality magnum opus. But the routine screenplay, slow narration of a few scenes, and the love story are not quite impressive. Suriya has succeeded in taking Kanguva to the next level with his superlative performance. On the whole, Kanguva will end up as an entertaining watch only for Suriya fans.
Times Of India (Rating: 2.5/5):
In the end, while we question the Kanguva equivalent of ‘Why Kattappa killed Baahubali?’ — with the pop-culture aficionado in me hoping for an ‘Assassin’s Creed’-y climax — we get an ending that proves how sequel-baiting has become a panic-inducing trend. With a story that banks too much on its period portions, and assures a far more promising storyline in future titles, Kanguva offers very little to enjoy at the present.
