The daring and dashing heroine of 1950s Garikapati Varalakshmi, having a revolutionary ideology, born on 26, Sep 1926 at Ongole, Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh. She played a lead role in “Barrister Parvateesam” movie the first social novel made a movie in 1940. She also played a title role as Prahlada in 1942 movie. During the movie shoot, she climbed a tree in the studio and warned the producers to pay her the balance remuneration otherwise she will not come down, as the production house had a bad reputation of not paying the remunerations to the artists. Producers assured and requested her to come down, and arranged her remuneration immediately. She led her life as per her will and wish, ignoring social confinements of those days.
