Mallikarjuna Rao started his career in films in 1973. He became popular with a role of “Battala Satti Gadu in ” Ladies Tailor” directed by Vamsi. Mallikarjuna Rao born on 1951 at Anakapalli and died 24th June 2008 at Hyderabad. He has acted many movies in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. He acted in around 375 movies over the last 25 years. A versatile actor with typical body language and diction.
BATTALA SATYAM (Mallikarjuna Rao) the petty cloth vendor character in Ladies Tailor movie, who keeps urging Sundaram a lazy Tailor of the village to work. Sundaram never listens to him. One day a soothsayer tells Sundaram that he will become rich if he marries a Woman with a mole on her thigh.
Sundaram shares the same with Battala Satyam and his assistant Sita Ramudu. He declares Battala Satyam as his commander in chief in his forthcoming dynasty, instantly he raises a doubt” can commander sell clothes” for which he has got a lot of applause among the audience. It depicts the need and innocence of Battala Satyam’s character. In the process of discovering the lady, Sundaram starts stitching blouses of the ladies of their village assuming he can meet the one with mole.
The trio of Sundaram, Battala Satyam & Seeta Ramudu will be scared of Venkataratnam a ferocious caretaker of that village. Poor Battala Satyam starts bribing Venkataratnam”s assistant Srinivas and asks him to stay calm and not to report his boss. This track between Satyam and Srinivas runs on a serious note but it’s hilarious to see on the screen and its undoubtedly because of Battala Satyam.
