Amanchi Venkata Subramanyam, better known by his initials, A.V.S was a character actor, comedian, producer, director, and journalist known for his works exclusively in Telugu Cinema. A.V.S. is regarded as one of the finest comic actors of Telugu Cinema, noted particularly for his comic dialogue delivery and expressions. He was born on 2 January 1957, at Tenali, Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh, and died on 8 November 2013.

Gopal Managing Director of a chain of Supermarkets in a movie Mister Pellam of Bapu, 1993, the role played by A.V.S. He happens to be a college classmate of Jhansi (Amani) wife of Balaji (Rajendra Prasad) who losses his Bank Job due to the treacherous and cunning plan by his colleague. Needy Jhansi will approach Gopal, after using her wit/ charm/ brains in tackling a business issue in the board meeting, Jhansi gets the job as Vice President. Satisfied Gopal expresses his feeling to Jhansi by saying Toothy (TRIPATHI) (satisfaction), he spells the words differently, because of his stammer. Bapu intelligently portrayed it as a mannerism. His characterization was very sober and funny and at the same time an important role which drives the story of the movie. Gopal helps Amani whenever she had a hard time with her husband or some financial issue, he even gives a clue to fix up the culprits who cheated her husband. On his suggestion, she initiates the chairman of the bank and solves the problem. Gopal character is a synergistic nature in action, which helps Jhansi at every level being an admirer of Jhansi. Finally, Gopal expresses his Toothy for the happy ending of the movie at the end credits.
