VANISRI was a heroine of Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films for about 2 decades. She shared the silver screen with all the South Indian top heroes of those days. She is known for her makeover and style, she got an identity through the roles she played on the screen. She played a female lead role in Gorantha Deepam directed by Bapu in 1978, without makeup which showed are dark skin complexion. The movie was successful at box office, but Chakarapani of Vijaya productions warned her not to take such dare steps, while other producers were investing crores of rupees on her movies to show her glamorous. He suggested her to follow her image rather than doing experiments, which may damage her career.
