Top Kantara: Chapter 1 Reviews:

TELUGU360 (Rating: 2.75/5):

At the end of it, these aspects can be forgiven and the drab passages are forgotten thanks to the makers’ sheer commitment to scale. Rishab pushes his creative decisions to deliver an extensive and spectacle-heavy sequel that is high on entertainment value.

NDTV (Rating: 2.75/5):

Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 is a manic, sometimes befuddling, mix of history, myth, cinematic craft and performative power. When the disparate components and conceits blend well, it is an undeniably compelling watch.

KOI MOI (Rating: 4/5):

Kantara Chapter 1 has my heart due to its second half, turning the entire film into a magic. And I guess, any magical trick, in the beginning, might keep you a little disinterested, till it finally takes the wand and Alhomora – opening the door to a magical world! That is how you make Universes! 4 stars! An entire one star for that brilliant climax! Such sheer brilliance of theatrics and storytelling coming together! Uff, what a climax!

123TELUGU (Rating: 3.25/5):

On the whole, Kantara: Chapter 1 is a captivating action drama that has a good amount of goosebump-inducing moments. The film will win us over with its standout interval and climax portions, divine elements, jaw-dropping visuals, and mind-boggling VFX. Rishab Shetty is outstanding, while Rukmini Vasanth is solid in a well-written role. The slow pacing at times, dragged-out portions, and the overstuffed scenes with too much information act as the key drawbacks. Nonetheless Kantara Chapter 1 is a theatre-worthy film for its technical brilliance.

Times Of India (Rating: 3.25/5):

Overall, Kantara: Chapter 1, has a few issues like unnecessary attempts to include comedy and slow pace at times in the first half. But, quite a few brilliantly executed episodes right from the pre-interval sequence up until the climax, along with an extraordinary performance by Rishab Shetty and a commendable performance by Rukmini Vasanth, particularly in the second half, made the film a very good watch in theatres. It is a film that is made to be experienced on a big screen along with friends and family. In all likelihood, the film is going to do very well at the box office with a very long run in theatres and in all probability, going to get a lot of awards for Rishab Shetty.
